This past weekend I decided to go along with my good friend The Coupon Diva on a grocery shopping trip. I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into when I decided this. And Since extreme couponing has emerged, everyone wants to save money and come home with major stock piles of sorts as they see on the show. As I followed her around the busy Publix by her home she was greeted by everyone in the store. They knew her and knew she had her coupons ready! As I followed her I jotted down a couple of pointers that she shared. One lesson that I was taught by The Coupon Diva was to buy only items that you use. She said the number one mistake that people when using coupons is buying unnecessary items. She also explained that you have to constantly watch the prices of items to see when they are at there lowest price. On this shopping adventure I was most amazed at where you can find coupons in the stores. There are many places that I would not have dreamed that coupons would be held including on the items themself. The Coupon Diva also explained that a notebook is very important when clipping coupons because it keeps you organized and makes it easier to display them so you can easily get to them. Believe me I learned that lesson quick. I thought I had lost my coupons in the store but found them tucked in a notebook i was carrying. She told me that I will need to purchase a binder ASAP because i can’t be losing valuable coupons. She has binders that are already set up and ready for you to purchase and use. She says that they include the rules, dividers, coupon holders and price list so you can fill in the product and prices. After that trip I am definitely going to get me that binder and a sunday paper to get ahead on saving some major money!
